The Robbers Roost Motel is an historic building built in the 1940’s that has been a family owned and operated business since that time. The motel is named after a historical landmark close to Green River where the Wild Bunch (i.e. Butch Casidy, Sundance Kid, etc.) used to hide out in the very early 1900s near the San Rafael Swell, which is about 50 miles southwest of the motel’s location. Green River might not seem like much because it’s a small town but it has a lot to offer and we are close to almost everything to do outdoors, except maybe skiing. As you can see from the video this area is rich in history with mines and mining settlements, river and canyon exploration, cowboys and the wild west, and Native American petroglyphs and pictographs. In town we have all the traveller services available 24/7.
Surrounding Green River we have the Book Cliffs to the north, The San Rafael Swell and Sin Bad Country to the west and the desert to the south. In the Book Cliffs you will find trails for horse back riding, ohv riding and county roads for general sight seeing. In the San Rafael Swell and Sin Bad Country you will find mines, old cabins, slot canyons, awesome rock formations and natural arches. All of which you can hike, bike, ride ohv, or travel to see from your car. In the desert we have slick rock and dunes that the whole family can enjoy. Right through town cuts the Green River, from which the town is named, which many people for most of the year come to run through the canyons and rapids that the river offers.
